Q6600/P5K-E - Freezing

Thread Starter
Hi,

I've recently overclocked my CPU to a 3.0 - 3.2 GHz without much trouble although I'm facing a problem. For example, last week I left my computer working all night doing BOINC stuff and when I wake up next morning (yea, it was 1pm) the computer was frozen up, clock indicated 8am. I'm not facing a BSOD but a screen freeze, I have no idea what that can indicate, maybe some of you will.

Here are some additionnal information: I could run prime 95 for 18h+, do many different things but sometimes my computer just freezes for no appearent reason.

My question is, considering it should be stable with 18h+ of prime 95 and other overclocking tests (such as 3dmark06), what should I do in order to get a "stable" overclocking?

Thanks for the help.

Some additional information, for those that might interest:

Ran 3.2 GHz with vCore at 1.425V, ram 2.2V, timing 5-5-5-18.
Ran 3.0 GHz with vCore at 1.375V, ram 2.2V, timing 5-5-5-18.
This is running on air cooling. Max temp has been 50C.

What CPU-cooler do you use? What are your temps like idle and load? I understand you have a max of 50 at any part of the Prime95 test?

Sorry, it seems my details screwed up at some time.

CPU Cooling: Arctic Freezer 7 Pro
I get idle temps of 20-25C and load temp of around 40C for an overclocking of 2.8 GHz.
Above 3.0 GHz, I get idle 25-30C and load temp 50C like previously mentionned.

This happens to me as well, sometimes the screen will go blank while minimizing a game, and have to reboot a few times.. Earlier today it happened and I had to restart about 20 times.. and now I'm running stock. I don't know what to do right now.

By the sounds of it it must be the RAM. Try 5-5-5-15 and/or set it to stock speed (800 Mhz right?) and see if this works.

Timings were set to 5-5-5-15 and DRAM frequency was kept at auto (given choice would be 721 MHz - 865 - 903 - 959 - 1083 - 1152 - 1201 - 1443). My FSB is currently set to 360 x 9.

I am still facing some weird freezing after a while. I have no idea what is causing it, I tried looking at the Win XP logs but they don't show anything, probably because the freeze doesnt let error being logged

I'll probably be going back to 2.4 to test for a day or two if it does not freeze. If it does, I don't know what kind of diagnostic I can give...

its not possible to be running a 1:1 ratio with your current fsb speed. the fsb has be 400 and memeory set to 800 for 1:1, this means ur pc is freezing cus ur emory is way way way too far overclocked unless you have found a way to get 1 to 1 ratio no matter what the speed of the FSB might be. if you have, please share?
