Crysis: A Discussion

Thread Starter
I just got my copy of Crysis today and was mucking around with it. The graphics do look amazing (even though I was playing on my ****ty 17" screen cos my main is screwed at the moment) but some of the textures seem a little blurry when zoomed too far. I was playing on fairly high settings so I don't expect that.

My main beef with this game is that the voice acting is TERRIBLE. The characters don't actually feel like characters at all. More like robots. Has anyone else experienced this? I'm comparing this to namely CoD4 where each person has a recognizable voice and they all have personalities. Even in GoW everyone had personalities.

A good SP game should be like a movie I reckon and the character and story just aren't developed enough at the start.

I'll update when I play some more but in the meantime, are my findings similar to everyone elses?

Playing the demo from time to time, the voice acting is pretty good. Felt like a movie to me when i was playing it. When they jump out of the plane and the guy starts talking, sounds decent to me.

I wouldn't go that far, i found it ok....graphics are nice. But the game is ruined by it's poor coding and lack of optimisation. AI needs work too.

Everything was fine for me, except that it was too much of a run and gun game, as opposed to other fps's with a more deep storyline which makes you think. Such as the Half Life series and the first Deus Ex.

Crysis isn't open ended......You end up with the same objectives and mission conclusions no matter what. It's always go from point A to point B no matter what.

If you don't go from A to B, it wouldn't be a game... flawed logic, IMHO.

maybe your voice quality is set to low or something,or maybe its because they don't talk face to face most of the time, and you are listening them over the voice equipment.i agree the game feels a bit slow at the start, but once you get to the stage where you start utilising suit shortcuts to achieve objectives rather than simply gunning, running and cloaking,it becomes much better.
the ai is very good, played it on delta and loved the way the enemy soldiers try to estimate your positions when you cloak and then try to gun you down while you are still invisible, only complain is the heli ai.it keeps hovering above me even if i cloak and never seems to run out of fuel.
