Anyway anything below 2.6Ghz on the Core2Duo line will bottleneck the 9600GT! I'm not even speak about AMD because even phenom sucks at games! E8x00 kick its quad-ass ASAP on OC! LOL!
3DMark06 is the poorest program to 'prove' bottlenecks with, since it has independed CPU tests (which game *ever* runs CPU only?)

You cannot blatantly say that bottleneck exist or does not exist. Even on ONE single rig you can have situations that result CPU bottleneck, and you can have cases in which you have a GPU bottleneck. Different games, settings, etc. all play a roll.

Why is everybody so hyped up about CPU bottlenecks, and is ignoring possible GPU bottlenecks at the same time? (not even going into RAM/HDDs and other hardware)

Not only that! In games I see improvements! For example before I was not able to play Gothic3 at 1680x1050 at highest quality without lagging with E6300, now I can with E8400!
Just look at these charts:

http://www.tomshardware.com/charts/c...%2C1313%2C1314
----------------------------------------------------------------
E8500 - 125 fps in pray
E6300 - 87fps
E2140 - 69fps

Almost 100% increase in performance! LOL!

BTW: 3DMark'06 is good enough!

What I would like to know is which video cards they used in that test. If they used SLI-ed 8800GTX's, heck yeah, of course there will be a CPU bottleneck in just about every game. However, if you do the same comparison with a single 8800GT, the results will be different.

These kinds of benchmarks are WAY to static. There are simply too many factors (hardware combinations, software settings, etc) involved to be able to make GENERAL statements. Yes, you might have had a CPU bottleneck (I don't think so, since your results with the E6300 were terrible... you should have gotten at least 10k with that set up... and again, 3DMark06 is a terrible benchmark program in this regard), but others with your SAME set up might be just fine since they play at a different resolution or different games.

Haven't we gone through this already?? Once again, I never said bottlenecks do not exist.
