They could be used for folding, but the client doesn't support them (currently.) Since it includes all series 8 and up it is probably CUDA based.

That's awesome! Finally Nvidia Owners can do something besides annoy ATI owners: Fold.
Quoted for the Truth.

GTX280, yeah really not interested so far. I don't care how fast it folds if games aren't keeping up with the technology being released.

Rep- Folding puts idle clock cycles to use advancing science....it's like recycling.

It is still a waste of power. You need to make the judgment whether that waste is worth it or not.

How is doing something that could lead to the end of a deadly disease a waste of power?

Now Orthos or Prime, those are a waste of power; they stress your CPU but don't accomplish anything out of it really.

Super Pi? It's kinda a waste of power; while it does use up a lot of power it also gets something from using that power; however the information it calculates isn't nearly as valuable as something that could save peoples lives.

Okay, let me clarify. It does consume extra power As I said, you can work out for yourself whether that power is "wasted" or not.

hopefully, they will create a version of F@H that will work with that so i don't have to uncheck CF to fold, then check CF again to play a game.....

What I think is that right now, the energy is not wasted. It is going towards this cause, now if they never find anything and give up on the project, then it will be wasted. It is still to early to tell though...I have read that they have learned a few things from this project, but nothing huge, and hopefully one day they will make a huge breakthrough and all of this energy will have been for a good cause.
