True, but the current Phenoms do run pretty hot with the high power requirements. Heat output is one thing they do need to work on, sure the Athlon64 was a lot cooler than the Pentium4, but it's a different story with Phenom.

I've always really thought that AMD probably designed Phenom to run on 45nm from the beginning, it's just that introducing a new architecture AND a new manufacturing process simultaneously would've been suicidal.

They've been saying that they will have the Quad core 45nm server chips out in 08 for a long time now.

DESKTOP chips won't be out till H1 of 09.
