Monitor Won't Turn On

Thread Starter
Well, there you go. My monitor won't turn on. FPD2185W. I've tested my computer with other monitors and it works fine.

I know, I know, It's a Gateway, but I heard great things about this monitor when it first came out so I went ahead and got it only to realize that the problems only came to everyone after a year.

The only thing that happens is the led light turns on, gets dimmer, then turns back to bright, then dimmer again. None of the buttons on it will work though so to turn it off I have to unplug it and plug it back in.

Now the monitor can't be 100% broken. It will turn on every once in a while (maybe once every 100 times I unplug it and plug it back in)

Please help!

Well, if the buttons worked I would have said manually select the signal source, but, I think it's dead Jim...

Apparently I can switch out some capacitors and it will work again. Heck, what do I have to lose?

try this. shut your computer off, open the case, take out your graphics card(s), then put your case back together, plug your monitor into your onboard graphics card then turn it on. it worked for me only i did it a slight bit differantly
