Well Realtemp is the only program that reads the 45nm CPUs correctly. So I suggest using that. Idle temp, it really depends on what you are OC'd to....typically on a air setup they idle around 43C - 46C stock settings....

im not O.C'd yet i just want to make sure that I'm getting the right temps before i start messing around. This is my first build so alot of this is new to me. I'm between 40 and 44 using Real Temp. Is it normal for the cores to read diffrent temps too? 43c,40c,44c,42c or do i need to reseat my cooler?

My temps were bothering me too, this is 3.8GHz, stock voltage, and on a little double 120mm fan radiator. Last night around midnight I was fustrated enough to think maybe I seated it wrong on the processor - so I started tightening the 4 screws on the water block then one of them snapped and broke off in the backplate/mount on the backside of the motherboard..."Frick", among some other things were then yelled.
Around 4am I had everything fixed, replaced back plate, rigged a nice little home made retention bracket, touch of AS5, zip tied the crap out of everything, etc etc etc and I'm a whopping 2 degrees cooler.
By 7am I think I just stopped caring. I may buy a swiftech triple rad from newegg when they come back in stock OR just use the mini fridge again and stick the radiator in that lol.
Did exactly that with my phenom 9500 system and it reached 1 deg C idle and 2 deg C load. But I was too paranoid about condensation to leave it up for more than about 30 minutes.

is it a problem that my first core is 6c more then the others? Room temp is 23C. Load temps 67c,61c,60c,58c O.C'd to 3.2 when at idol the temps stay within 2c of one another its like that first core is doing more then the rest?
