Vista Ultimate 32-bit to 64-bit?

Hey erm, I've got Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit but it's OEM, i'm wondering, if I could get hold of an Ultimate 64-bit install disc could I use my 32-bit Key to activate the 64-bit?

Thanks in advance!

To be honest, I am not sure. However, I'd say it's likely that it won't work, and you'll have to purchase 64-bit OEM.

i believe that it will work. When I purchased Vista Home Premium upgrade, it only came with a 32-bit disc. I had to order a 64bit disc. And well, the key worked for the 64bit. I don't think that the keys are linked to different variants of Vista (32 vs 64 bit). They may be linked for the specific type of Vista (business, HP, ultimate) but I am not sure.

I hope that helps.

well lol once I bought a £90 64 bit ultimate OEM vista disc but it came with a misprinted serial key so i rang some indian call center support place and turns out it was a home premium 32 bit key. After several hours of argueing he gave up and gave me a new serial that worked fine. So you should call up customer support about that 32 bit ultimate CD key that they "misprinted" on your £90 ($180) 64 bit ulimate OEM disc.

well, this maybe the case for OEM. However, the upgrade and full versions, you will probably be able to use the key for either 32 or 64 bit.

well the key should work with 32 or 64 bit, since all you need is to install either 32 or 64 from the disk assigned to the ugrade, or full part of vista....
