Switched from AMD and kinda dissapointed - Page 5

I wasnt expecting everything to be blazing fast. But I expected things in general to run a little faster for almost 500 bucks. You know? What good is a super high benchmark if REAL WORLD running of things is the same speed on my 1.9 Ghz processor? Besides video encoding and such?

As for the poster who said more HD space isnt going to make my comp faster. I know that I just needed more storage for stuff. A raptor is one of the next on my to do list. I used to have one but it crashed.

To the poster that asked if I had all the latest drivers. Yes I updated EVERYTHING to the latest.

Crashed ?

Can you reformat and run it again ?

You would see a world of improvements.

As in crashed and wont even boot back up anymore. I got it when the raptors first came out. Now when I turn the computer on if its in it just makes this really loud like scraping noise and click clacks. I would have probably bought a raptor today. But 109$ for a 750Gb was a good deal IMO

Well, ofcourse your monitor has to be a good resolution to actually play at higher resolutions. That's where good cards and CPU's come in; big screens.
So sexy it Hz

I can play at 1600x1200 which is good enough for me. Until I get a monitor that will support higher

Although I have been wanting to hook my computer up to my new 1080p 42" LCD. But I dont think it would work out to well with only 1 GPU

Kemsoff -- I understand you're feeling. When I went from the computer that is now my wife's to this one, I didn't have a huge sense of acceleration like back in the days when I went from 450MHz to 2GHz and double the RAM on XP. But I do feel a sense of deceleration when I go back and use hers. I just always expect everything to be instant now, no matter how much stuff I have open... anything else just seems perplexing until I remember of the old days. Good luck with the new system, I envy that processor you have.

lol. How is that possible?? I went from a phenom @ 3ghz to an e8400 and its night and day difference to me

Also you should probably reformat.
if you can't notice a difference between an E8400 and a 3800+ then stick with the cheap stuff. Ignorance is bliss.

So I took them back, bought me a 750gb HD, G5 mouse, and came home and overclocked the crap out of my AMD.

And spent a whole lot less money. Ill probably upgrade to a quad intel here eventually but for now Ill stick with AMD.
finally somebody with common sense
