I have a Phillips PSC706 Acoustic Edge sound card, which is an excellent sound card. Its a bit old (2001).

My question is:

I have onboard HD sound (Realtek). Is the aftermarket Philips PSC706 Acoustic Edge sound card better than the stock onboard HD sound?

I know onboard sound is never great, but wanted to know which is better considering the Phillips PSC706 Acoustic Edge is not HD.
