Random Lockups, Out of ideas

Thread Starter

basically the title says it all. i've check memory timings, i've checked memory voltage, i've ran Memtest86 multiple times. tried different Gfx card drivers. done clean installs of windows. checked voltages for FSB, northbridge, PCIE slots, checked tempuratures, and i'm out of ideas.

The computer basically will run super smooth. then just whenever it wants the mouse will jitter a little on screen when it's moved then will just lock up completely and the sound loops. i am including a link to a youtube vid showing what happens ... couldn't think of any other place to host it off the top of my head. also including screen shots of CPUZ GPUZ and Hardware monitor. any ideas/suggestions are welcome and appreciated.

CPUZ Validation Link: http://valid.x86-secret.com/show_oc.php?id=363881

Youtube Video:

(i was running a 3dMark06 test when it froze this time.)

Thanks again, this is really frustrating.

Luke

p.s. my hardware is listed as my System Below. i haven't OC'd it yet cause it still hasn't run smoothly as is.

hmm.
My situation is similar.
Same sound loop and similar hardware, unable to locate the source of the problem...

Same memory/mb/os

I've had similar problems. Try updating your sound drivers. If that doesn't work, I don't know how else to help, sorry. Mine only stutters any more, it doesn't completely freeze up. It only did it when watching videos, and I found out that it did it because my cpu was spiking to 100% usage, so it must be a video/sound thing.

I found this on an other forum.

Quote:
If you are trying to run 4 sticks of 6400s then you would have to drop to 5300 (667Mhz). The issue is that the memory controller (MCP) on the motherboard can not run a four stick population as fast as it can a two stick population.
So either try to lower the memory frequency or try and run just two in dual channel then test it out for a while.

edit: After looking around more it seems like most people getting the freeze/sound loop are all having issues with their memory. Apparently the memory controller on the evga 780i isn't real great.

Which version of the Bios are you running? Look on this forum at bios updates. I see a couple that fix some serious problems.

I'll try that on mine after this memtest finishes running, as I'm having the same/similar problem.
Thanks!

I don't suppose this is on Crysis? I had the same problem for a while until I lowered my in-game settings a tad. I downgraded from very high to high and havn't had a lock-up in over a month.

This is on a 680i though....may not apply to yours.

From my experiences, I would say this is a memory problem.

The screenshot in that thread mirrors my problem...
and with everything I've tried to now I think I need to either wait on a bios update or go with a different board.

Thanks for the help.

EDIT** Found this link if anyone is having similar issues: http://nvidia.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/n...i=&p_topview=1

Hopefully it is resolved by next week, like they say!
