Creative Soundblaster Live! Value Locks up PC.

Thread Starter
It worked yesterday, I was cleaning out my fans, tightening screws and cleaning other items, installing other cards etc... but I took out my old SBLV and dusted it off, reassembled it with the jumpers, but now it wont work!

CT4780 is model number, it doesnt lock up in Safe mode, but locks up both my PCs when drivers are loaded.

Please help? I dont wanna waste the $12 I payed for it

simple but try removing the card and re-seating it back into the slot. I have had this happen to me before and a re-seat has taken care of the problem.

Ive tried reseating it in every PCI Slot I could get to, it seems to be the card itself.

You just HAD to remove the jumpers didn't you?

Try moving the card to a different slot. If it doesn't work, check device manager. If you accidentally put the jumper in the wrong place you may have changed the DMA address or IRQ number and caused a conflict with something else. Those things were common jumper settings on old cards.

2 of them are cripple shorts (turns off some of the features like the line out, I used it so I just took them off Long ago.)

JP4 and JP3 are what I'm confused about.

I can't seem to find any type of spec sheet or manual :/

Like i said check your device manager, it will tell you what the IRQ and DMA channels are and if there is a confict. That may be it.

I'm thinking of trashing it and getting different one from a swap meet.
