Not all circuitry is exposed, but ya never know...
To eliminate the fan altogether try another fan on the header, maybe try without the rpm sensor lead connected... ? I'm totally guessin' now.
If it is that header, are ya gonna just "live with it"?
I actually wiped down the back side of my motherboard before installing it because I left it on my desktop while running it. I dont run wires back there so I am almost certain there is nothing back there that is pulling an Austin Power's cryo-state
I tried the fan on another connector that was on a fan controller (BTW I dont use motherboard fan headers, its all Molex or Fan controller powered, I might change that soon though seeing the placement of this fan is very annoying)
I tried a fan on the troubled connector, no problems - was able to get to windows and load up FAH.
I tried the troubled fan on a good connector, no problems.
Its just this fan, on this connector that was finicky....
