Corrupted Bios?

Alright so today i played some games for about 2 hours, then shut the computer down and went out for dinner, dident hit the power button and everything was in working condition. The computer was connected to a surge protector and everything was good to my knowledge. When i arrived at home and booted my machine it would not load windows and would just black screen, aswell as during POST it would take a very long time to display my ram and drives. when it checks my memory it shows the word memory but the bottom half of the Y is now GONE, completely missing, chopped away and i have no idea why. Thinking the ram was the problem i memtested it with succes for aprox 30 minutes. i then moved onto the harddrive being the problem and having windows on both my drives incase i had an error arive in one of them i tried both of the installs. Neither of them would load and would say that windows was not correctly shut down and every time i would hit staret windows normally it would freeze on that screen and halt for infinite time. having no idea whats wrong i formatted my drives and tried to do a fresh install of both Xp and Vista 64 and both of them would freeze during install and i would have to open and close the disk tray multiple times for it to even spin the disc.

Ever since i have had my DS3R i have booted it and about 1/7 times it would reset the time and i just figured it was a bad Cmos battery but i would never imagine it would do this to my computer.

ive spent almost 5 hours trying to get it to boot into windows or do anything to no succes and i am fed up with it for the night. I understand this is a long read and probably all spelt wrong but its late, i'm tired and i would appreciate some input.

I'll check back in the morning.

Thanks!

Void.

one thing to try would be to remove all the power cables frrom th pc. remove the cmos battery and leave it in this state for any where between 10 -5 hours!! this usually sorts the problem. if not i would suggest a bad bios chip or mobo. you can replace the bois chip on some boards indeed i did when a local repaier knackered mine on my old pn32 sli. but the board was never the same after and died a few months later
hope this helps

alrighty, well.... it works now.... dont know why, dont know how, but it works.

Something is still slow in the bios so i'm sure this isent the end of my problems but its working for no apparent reason...

thanks for the suggestion!
