Does this make sense to anyone?

9x365fsb/8x411fsb ~ both equal just under 3.29ghz. Both fail OCCT in minutes on my system.

But if I set my clock to 7x470fsb which is (you guessed it) 3.29ghz I pass. Once immediately before posting this, just to be sure.

At both 8x411 and 7x470 the vcore defaults to 1.392v. At 9x365 the vcore sets at 1.368. I tried raising it to 1.4v then 1.425, but when I change the vcore the system won't even boot Windows until I reset it to auto.

Why can I run stable with a 7x at 3.29, but not with my 8 and 9x multis? And why the voltage drop on the 9x? And, dammit, why can't I alter the vcore?

I think it's cool to run an 1880fsb, but 3.29g is all I'm gonna get out of this E6600 if I can't use the higher multipliers.

Please help!

the mismatch rams may be having some effect but my e6000 wil give me 3.6 easy but the heat gets too much. try slowing your ram down when you overclock on the higher multi (didnt think you could change the multi on these chips) losen the ram timmings a little try 5.5.5.15 at 20v.

lowering the multi will always (mostly) give a more stable O/C thats what its there for

seems like a FSB hole. Those speeds on the FSB won't work for some reason.

I was just about to post the same thing... but that seems like a pretty large gap (365-411)

the fsb hole my be the obvious answer. try figure around your gole see if they make any differance. you could also try removing two sticks of ram and attemptig your overclock with matched pairs in dual channel mode. something that has worked for me in the past is going past you goal point to see if it becomes stable then

What ramspeed and strap do you use with the different FSB and what´s your FSB and NB volt?

I have my RAM at a 1:1 divider, so you can see that it is well below its default of 1066 at all the settings I've been trying. As for the strap, I don't know what it is running; it is set on auto. This is my first venture into any but the Phoenix BIOS from my old EVGA 680i, so when you start discussing NB Strap I only understand how far in over my head I truly am. But all my temps are terrific, so I'm not afraid to throw extra volts at anything if you think it may help. That is if the system will allow it. All my voltages are now on auto. I've tried bumping the vcore when I get a fail (OCCT or XP boot), but all that does is cause the system to get into a boot loop, until it resets itself, or prompts me to reset my failed OC I've had the NB and SB at 1.55v and 1.2v, respectively, with no positive effect.

I attempted an 8x425 boot (as urbtree suggested ~ thank you), but it went into that boot loop I just described. I'll try 7x411, just to double-check if the fsb is afflicted by the 'hole' you suspect, or if the 7x works there.and report back soon.

Thanks for your replies. Sorry I am so late in responding, but the niece is over and my only chance to get online is when she and the wife step out for a walk or trip to the corner store.

I'll also give it a whirl w/o the additional 2g of Patriot ram, again as suggested by urb).

Cya soon.
