i would wait... or just get an 8800GTS 512. Either way, it ought to be a pretty decent jump,. but more if you wait for the new cards

I played the beta with a solid 45-50 fps in town with everything maxed. It might be that 320 holding you back, cuz I had a good experience w/640.

We really don't need anymore fanboyism on this forum. Unless you provide proof, your claims are taken with a grain of salt.

I REALLY think this must be a driver/server side problem. There is no way an 8800GTS should be struggling with an MMO.

I agree, along with that fact that Age of Conan doesn't have that great of graphics. To the OP, the jump from 8800GTS 320MB to a 9800GTX is the equivalent of going from a 8800GTS 320MB to a G92 8800GTS 512MB which is not big at all. It's like going from a Q6600 B3 clocked at 3.0 GHZ to a Q6600 gO at 3.6 GHZ. In the end the difference will be pretty minimal and I just checked Toms Hardware GPU comparison charts to back myself up on that one.

It also depends on the resolution that he is using along with whether or not hes using AA/AF.

I just picked up a new stock 9800gtx today and have to say that I run AoC at 1680x1050 and stay above 20fps in the toughest areas and hover around 40fps with all settings on high, no AA... Very playable, gorgeous game... It's a great card IMO. never owned the 8800 though so I can't compare them directly, i've had 7900 and a 9600... this one takes them all out!

You guys are all right... my 8800GTS can handle this game fine. The game runs fairly smooth now... with a little bit of hiccups. I get 15-30 fps in AoC while in town(high settings 1680x1050 AAx2), compared to before where it was like 2-60 fps(low settings)

All I had to do was update to the latest drivers... I'm a noob =(

I wonder if you have a driver issue? I would have thought you'd get more fps out of that card. Guess I'm glad I got this one over a 1 1/2 yrs ago and it still performs

Most likely false. I can't see anything above an 8600GT having ANY trouble with this game. It is running the oblivion engine and is heavily optimized. It is an MMO for god sakes. They need it to be accessible. They aren't crytek.
