9800GTX to replace 8800GTS 320? - Page 3

I personally just upgraded from a 8800gts 320mb to a 9800gtx, and I'm speechless. My 8800gts could barely run Crysis on high (around 10-15fps), now the 9800gtx can run Crysis on very high at around 20fps.

HUGE performance boost, well worth the money.

5fps you call huge. 9800GTX is about 20-25% better.

I would wait for the new line from ATI/Nvidia to come out and wait for actual benchmarks to compare performance. Then make a decision on what would best suited for your needs and budget.

GTS 320mb = 10-15fps on HIGH
GTX = 20fps on VERY HIGH

The GTX did 30-ish fps on high, which is a little over double than what the GTS did, not 5 fps.

Sorry for the confusion lol.

What I'm doing is going SLI with another G80 GTS. =D They're ridiculously cheap now, like sub-$100 some places.

Thanks for the comparison. I'll probably grab a 9800GTX sometime this month. =)

IMO... a 9800GTX isn't worth the money in pretty much any situation. The 8800GTS G92 (practically the same card for ~$75 less) is a much better choice.

The 9800GTX has been proven (Expreview) to perform ~5% better than the 8800GTS G92, yet cost ~33% more.

I find that hard to believe. What kind of systems are you using these cards in, and what games are you playing?

This makes me want to get rid of my 8800gts 320

Which one?

XFX 9800GTX $300 CAD
http://www.ncix.com/products/index.p...anufacture=XFX

EVGA 9800GTX $310 CAD
http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=29127

both free ground shipping

EVGA is nice because of their 90 trade-in, not sure if XFX offers that as well...

There is also...

BFG 8800GTS 512 $245 MIR
http://www.ncix.com/products/index.p...20Technologies
No free ground shipping
