Upgrading GFX Help Needed

Thread Starter
I'm thinking of getting rid of my current Nvidia 5700LE 128MB AGP
I searched up Ebay [AU] and made a list of the graphics card i could afford since i have a tight budget

NVidia Geforce 7600GT 512MB DDR2 AGP
ATI Radeon X850XT 256MB DDR3 AGP
ATI Radeon HD2600XT 512MB DDR3 AGP

I'll be using it to play games, videos and some photo editing
I hope someone could help me on what to choose.
Thanks

*something good under $160 would be great

ATI 2600XT AGP - for sure!!!!!

The 7600GT is not a good GPU
The ATI X850XT was a good card but is a bit too old now and only has 256MB of VRAM
The ATI 2600XT 512MB is a fairly recent GPU (released last year) and has good midrange allround performance.

my first thoughts would be the ati HD as its the newer card. but having said that ati have consistanly been behind NV for some time now. but i dont think the 7600 can complete although it is a capable card

I agree with urbtree, but if thats your price range and you are limited to AGP, the X2600XT is the obvious choice as it is the fastest and newest of those GPU's and is perfectly capable of running the most modern games and photo/video apps on your 17" monitor at good resolutions and settings.

I agree. You'll get your best bang for your buck with the 2600XT. Although, if you insist on keeping your agp slot mobo the 3850 agp will be the best you can get for that bus. It might be worth saving up the extra money
