The table basically states that Windows XP 32-bit and PAE allows for the Operating System to access 4GB of RAM. Since multiple users already indicated that the part of that 4GB RAM is already used by the system, there isn't even 4GB left for the OS.
Thus, yes, the OS recognizes 4GB. Nice. Good to know. then, the OS recognizes that a good chunk of that 4GB is already used by other stuff (see several of the previous posts). Thus, the OS reports the 4GB it recognizes, minus the already used up memory, which equals ~3.25 - 3.5 GB, depending on hardware and such.Edited by Chozart - 5/25/08 at 4:26am
