Regardless of how powerful it turns out to be, is it really required? I mean to be fair an 8800GTS or 8800GTX still runs everything maxed out @ pretty high resolutions (except Crysis). Personally i feel that GPU's aren't the issue anymore and game development is lacking.
It's ok buying the most kick ass GPU's on the market, but to what end? If there are only 2 or 3 games that really need them the rest of the time you spend messing about with benchmarks to warrant the purchase.
The only reason I am going to be upgrading to BEST eVGA card there is in 54 days is because I have the stepup program from my 350$ 9800gtx 512mb. This card will cost me $260 shipped and will give me HDMI access so I can get a HDMI 24" monitor and a blueray DVD-R drive!
