You don't have to look into details on the turtle express wax I posted. I'm telling you man, we've painted a car that morning, and used the express wax on it that afternoon. It's a shining agent (for lack of better term) like hand glaze, not a wax.
Ok, I am going to see if I can find that anywhere

Quote:
are you hesitant about clear coating because it wont make the panels as good as they could be with wax or because the paintwork may get ruined?
Not worried about the paint getting ruined, it already has some clear on it from the painter, and I think clear coat would be as good as wax. I am hesitant because of the crap flying around getting in the finish, and I dont want to sand anything, I've had enough sanding

Due to lots of construction in my area and lots of wind I was getting lots of crap in my paint aswell.

What I do now - dappen down your workarea with a fine warter mist using a squert bottle - spray my paint as as soon as I'm done i cover the workpiece with a cardboard box with holes in the sides - duat useally settles vertical - work's for me.

Thanks and keep up the good work your daughter should be very happy.

Update:

Turtle Wax Express Shine does little to nothing. I tested on plastic painted part and on metal, theres barely any visible difference so I dont think I'm gonna apply this stuff.

Putting acrylic clear on painted gloss = epic fail! I just ruined the bottom of the painted cdrom drive Its odd because I sprayed the 4 sides with no problem, then i went across the large bottom surface, and before my eyes parts of it peeled and shrivelled up! I have pics but I will post them later. I guess I will let if dry, sand that face and see if I can salvage it with a new coat of black gloss.

not having a good day so far

only good thing is I sprayed black touch ups on the mobo back plate that got marred during pop riveting

Sorry for the double post - Just spoke to the pro painters and asked him about all this stuff. He said the Imperial hand glaze and the turtle stuff isnt going to do anything because of how little clear is on there, and I'd be better of clearing the parts with Krylon Acrylic. He said that will be perfectly safe and end up looking better.

so now its a matter of deciding to clear it, or going with it as is.

I am gonna go sit in my shop and think about this. All opinions are welcome
thanks

sad cr

thanks kkbob33

well I was able to salvage the cdrom drive without repainting the whole thing. I sanded the peeled areas with 400 wod, then cleaned it. I sprayed 2 quick bill owen style creep-up coats of black gloss, and it looks ok. not perfect, but acceptable.

I have decided to not clear or shine-wax the purple parts, so I have begun assembly. Ill post an update in a few hours
