Might be going Intel :-\

Thread Starter
I Cant overclock my phenom 9850 :-\\ Everytime it crashes, even if I just push it to 2.6GHz. With a quadfire setup I score 13,000. I am really frustrated @ whats going on. There are setups out with just an e8400 @ 4.4 and trifire scoring 23k. If I cant figure out the problem soon, Ill have no choice except to go with a q6700/e8500.

Stick with AMD, or at least think this: AMD is going to jump back up there with Intel as soon as they whip out some new 45nm (32nm?! ≈≈≈) quadcore beast.

So what is your point?

His phenom he has right now will still be the same. And he will most likely need to get a new mobo. So why not go intel?

We will see.

Only issue is, things have changed, and AMD had better (though this is unlikely) release a beast.

I'd say go where the performance takes you.

IMO, It doesnt matter what company you go. As long as the cpu gets done what you need. The world isnt really all about benchies you know

Haven't you read all this NVIDIA hype? Gpu will be taking over/assisting with many tasks, so CPU performance is really becoming less important. Just go for the best bang for you buck (don't forget to include OCing ability though!) Right now Intel offers the best buck-bang, but who knows what AMD will pull out of their behinds in the near future...
