Farewell. I'm considering packing up my bags and moving on over to Intel as soon as I can afford to buy/build a new rig.

Sorry AMD you just don't cut it anymore, even stock.

Overclocking instability may not be only caused by the CPU but also by the other components of the rig. So blaming explicitly AMD or Phenom is not justifying, isn't it? U can get a rig with intel and still face the same kind of problem if combo or OC setup is not well tuned. So go through ur OC setup and re asses everything.

I'm planning on making the move to AMD for my next build. Quadcore and a pair of the 4xxx X2's

I was considering just going with a Q6700. But I decided to do the move, however seeing your post and a few other overclock problems scares me a little

Peoples opinions seem to be very mixed.

Frankly I am running my 9500 at 2.82ghz 24/7 without any glitch. OC depends upon all the components of the rig. Not the CPU only.Isn't it?

Motherboard from my experience has a big factor to play, and a stable power supply to the chip.

Right you are. And what i've found out from different forums is that gigabyte mobos are currently giving more OC to the phenoms. I think asus boards need a good bios update.
