on the mobo i assumed he/she would be.

if not then the mobo will have pointless features unless he/she decides to in the future
Personally, I don't consider crossfire an option because in the future I can just pick up a card that has better performance than my current card. The only way I'd use crossfire is if I was able to get my hands on a 2nd card at a ridiculously cheap price.

I'm mainly looking for a great Mobo that won't hold me back in OC'ing.

You have a DVD Burner, but no CD Reader/Burner or DVD Reader.
Get a combo Samsung drive:

And If you want a HD3870, Get the Best: Sapphire TOXIC.

Sounds like your undecided on your Heatsink/Fan, so I'll leave that to you.
You do know a DVD burner reads/burns DVDs AND read/burns CDs right?

Id recommend going with a SATA DVD+RW drive, its a noticable increase in speed and most games' (BF2 notably) splash screens literally flash as the data is trasmitted much faster than IDE.

Good Luck
~Higgins

EDIT: i see you changed to a samsung SATA drive, good choice.

Ok, Since I already have half the stuff your thinking of buying...

The Phenom is a Beast. Get good cooling for it (something like a TRUE or SI-128) and it will clock like a rocket. Ive peaked 3.1Ghz with mine, without excessive voltage.

Be careful with the motherboard. It is a good board, but watch out for the screamers. Some of the M2RS models have this problem with High Wattage procs, where they start to whistle and make high pitched noises. RMA it straight away if this problem gets you, but stick with it coz its the best clocking AM2+ board available.

As for the graphics card, again, a monster. I think i got something like 875/2500. Vapor-X tech is amazingly cool and silent, so you made a good hoice.

Well does anyone have a recommendation for me or a benchmark for me regarding coolers? Oh, and anyone wanna point me to how to volt mod the 3870?

If we're talking aftermarket, trust me when I say that if you are buying the toxic, it wont be needed. Vapor-X is amazingly cool.

The HIS ICEQ series coolers on the 3870 also deserve a mention. They are much bulkier in terms of the space they take, but look cool if your going for a blue theme and cool well.

CPU Wise, the TRUE is good as always, along with the Xigmatek S1283. Water cool if your looking for some insane overclocks, but WC'ing isnt really my forte'.

Same can be said of voltmodding. I dont bother myself, but if you hunt in the volt mods section here you'll find some good stuff.
