Opinions of G.Skill?

Well, Crucial used to be my favorite RAM, until they switched from using their own D9's to some other crappy fail chips. Now, I'm needing some other quality RAM until I get my RMA straightened out, which may take months of re-RMA-ing to get some sticks that won't fail. G.Skill seems to be quickly rising to take the place of Crucial in the bang-for-buck RAM market, and i'm looking at these sticks for now: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231144

Has anyone used these, or similar? I see they take less volts than even the crucial to achieve the same 1066, 2.1 instead of 2.2. My question is how reliable are they? Can they handle more volts, say 2.4-2.5 and break 1200 if needed? Not that 600fsb is in my future...What are your thoughts?

Without looking I'm going to guess at some GSkill PQ's or PK's.

Yep

Great ram!

[edit] If you're interested, for only 30 dollars more you can get 4gb of 1000mhz PQ's.

In my experience, G.Skill's don't handle anything higher than 2.1V very well. I ran mine at 2.15V for about 2 months and they're currently toast.

I actually just ordered the same pair of 1066MHz G.SKILL the other day. I should get them on Tuesday. I'll let you know how well they run.

The 1066mhz are PK's, not PQ's...PK's are better but cost more.

Unless you mean you ordered the same 1000mhz

I've got the 2x2gb 800mhz set that run 1127 stable. Great ram

I have a friend who runs gskill. Got some nice OCs on it, but he had to loosen the timings quite a bit. The double sided crucials OC better, but heck, those are extinct now. Gskill is really good though.

Sweet, thanks for the info guys

Order placed for some 1066's, 2x1gb for 59.99 at the egg. pretty good deal if they're as good as they sound. I'll sig them when I finish my overclock. I was able to hit 3.79 on my E6750 with the ballistix before they started giving me errors, which pretty much made me have to change my pants. I think I actually would need some new pants if i got higher with the G.Skills

The G.Skill 2 x 2 1,000MHz PQ's are a nice kit. I have them myself. But be aware they aren't the best overclockers. I've seen quite a few instances where people have trouble getting them above 1,100MHz at all. They'll do 1,066 for me, but much higher and they're unstable. Don't get me wrong, they're still great. Just don't expect huge overclocks.

The G.Skill 2 x 2 1,066MHz PK's are supposed to be better, with an 8-layer PCB (opposed to 6-layer) and better chips. The overclocking potential is probably at least a little higher.
