Friend buying some parts need some advice

Thread Starter
My friend wants to upgrade his cpu mobo and ram, and trying to come up with the best products.

For the cpu he is going with a q6600, are the 45nm quads worth anything? or is the multiplier too low on anything in the same price range? while most stuff is only utilizing dual cores next wave of software(mainly games) should support quads.

As for the mobo, While i do like mine, i really dislike the vdroop i get and wouldnt want anyone else to have that be an issue.

As for ram what is a good 4gig kit nowadays?

Also is there any cpu coolers in the 20-30$ range that are far better then the retail cooler? from what i understand the retail cooler is very limiting on quads.

for the RAM go with the g. skill DDR2 100 here

as with the cpu cooler, go with the tuniq tower for $20 more, or the TRUE for $30 more

CPU: i suggest a 6700 by far the best qaud core versus price assuming your going to be overclocking.

MB: i suggest you get a 780i if your going sli or consider waiting for the upcoming p45 boards.

RAM: most people will suggest you g.skill but personaly i like the corsair dominator has much better heat disapation at a better pricepoint and has better results overclocking even comes with a fan+looks better heres a link http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820145197 $125 after rebate.

HS: i second the tuniq tower costs $50

here are the multiplers for core 2 cpu's http://www.overclock.net/intel-cpus/...breakdown.html

for a heatsink at that price range ARCTIC COOLING Freezer 7 Pro would probably be the only decent option. I would spend a few more dollars and get either XIGMATEK HDT-S1283 or the ocz vendetta 2 there in the $35-45 range.
