Squiggly lines across entire screen?

Thread Starter
I turned my computer on today and I have squiggly lines all across my entire screen. I also noticed that some of the letters are a little disfigured during POST. Any clue what this could be from? I know it's not drivers because I've tried many different ones.

Clocks too high?, maybe causing artifacts although i've never see any artifacts that squiggle

No because I'm currently at stock with my CPU and GPU.

Reseat didn't work. Now I noticed in device manager it is showing an exclamation point for it saying that Windows has stopped the device because it has reported problems. What the heck?

Did you happen to try a new cable? I had a flakey DVI cable that did something similar. Very obvious but it won't hurt to try that and rule it out.

Might not be that easy but ya never know....
I have my monitor hooked up to a KVM and everything works perfectly fine on the other computer, no problems at all. BTW it's a VGA cable since I'm using a KVM. Also why would a flaky cable make my Video card show up in device manager with problems?

I would bypass that KVM and try plug in direct to rule it out, also try a different VGA cable. Not saying that it will fix the problem in device manager but it will be a start on troubleshooting to rule out each component. If it was fine in the last couple days you may also try a system restore to a good working point.

I just re-installed Windows today and I just tried booting my system with a different video card and I couldn't even get any video at all as if it wasn't recognizing I had one in there. Then I put this card back in and it boots up fine but I still have this issue. Sounds like my motherboard but I'm gonna be really pissed if it is.

PC check is a great utility that will test your components and is included on Hirens Boot Disk. Maybe try running some diagnostics?
