ATI has announced the immediate availability of its latest cutting-edge FireGL v7700 professional graphics adaptor, sporting in the 1GiB and 2GiB R600-based V8600 and V8650, the 512MiB V7700 is based on their RV670 GPU.Based on a new generation GPU with 320 unified shader units, the ATI FireGL V7700 ultra parallel processing architecture offers maximize throughput by automatically directing graphics horsepower where it’s needed. Intelligent management of computational resources enables enhanced utilization of the GPU to enable real-time rendering of complex models and scenes while maximizing frame rate performance when animating.
The FireGL V7700 supersedes the FireGL V7100 and adds a number of key features and improvements which is unique in its class by virtue of a DisplayPort port, which is able to drive high-resolutions of up to 2560x1600, and has high dynamic range of up to 10-bit per channel per pixel displays.

PCIe 2.0 support is standard, like the desktop Radeon HD 38xx equivalents, powered by RV670, and the graphics memories are high bandwidth GDDR4 devices, connected to the chip's 256-bit (512-bit internal ring bus) memory interface.
The backplane sports a dual-link DVI output to pair with the DisplayPort connector, and the GPU can drive both outputs simultaneously. The DisplayPort ability is native to the GPU.
Like other FireGL products, the V7700 is supported by AMD's sophisticated graphics driver for Windows and Linux platforms, including Vista, and 64-bit variants of both, with certification and performance driver paths for many professional level applications.
ATI FireGL workstation graphics accelerators are thoroughly tested and certified with major Computer Aided Design (CAD) and Digital Content Creation (DCC) applications, ensuring a maximum level of reliability not typically found in consumer graphics products. ATI FireGL unified drivers simplify installation, deployment, and maintenance. AMD offers direct customer access to a dedicated professional class technical support team.
