HOWTO: Fix Bent LGA Socket pins.

Thread Starter
So you're off playing with your hardware and OH NO! A bent pin!
Don't panic! The solution is simple.
You will need:
  • Bent Socket Pins
  • Patience
  • Mechanical Pencil

What do I do with these items?

It's simple, take the lead out of the pencil, wash it a little bit, dry it and we begin.
  1. Locate your bent pin.
  2. Take your mechanical pencil without the led.
  3. Put the pin in the little hole of the pencil.
  4. Push down till you think you're about to hit the bottom.
  5. Look closely, can you tell the pins are still bent?
  6. If so, keep on pushing ever so slightly.
  7. Be sure not to bend other pins!
  8. To be real sure you've got them all down, look at the socket at an angle you'll notice they're from out of the ordinary.

This should work for you. It's a quick simple fix.

Please note! Tweezers and other objects paperclips etc, will make your problem worse.
I know this works, 'cause I just used this on my Blood Iron.

Happy overclocking.

how do you bend LGA 775 when it doesnt really have pins?

http://www.cpu-world.com/Sockets/L_LGA775_package.jpg

AM2, S939, S478 have pins for sure. Credit Card works fine with AM2.

The socket, not the CPU.

And...

BUT, that is my opinion, since I find tutorials and pics go hand in hand.

Not really. Simple advise, true, but it's refreshing to hear something basic and simple once in a while. And really, I've never heard that advise before.
