Na i'll be stick with my E7200 i'm getting 3.33ghz on a 1.18 v-core so its a pretty dam good chip for the cash. E8400 is an amazing chip but i don't want to spend another £130 on one. I want to bump my E7200 to 3.5ghz but i think my motherboard will bottom out at 1450 QDR which is 3.4ghz

E7200 only has 3mb L2 the E8400 has 6mb L2 this makes about a 10% diff when maxed out

Another thing to think about is your motherboard I have a P5N-E Sli and I had to flash my bios before i could even use my E7200

overall E8400 is a better chip
E7200 is a lot cheaper chip and will overclock better because of the lower fsb(1066) and it only has 3mb L2
E8400 doesnt need 1.4v to get to 4ghz, its can be done on 1.34 and 1.36
easily, 1.4v is dangerous for the E8400

Well I have my e7200 running at 3.5Ghz on 1.24vCore and I know it will go higher, but honestly I cant be assed to push this thing any higher.

the biggest factor in clocking these 2 chips will be your mobo. the higher multi on the 84 will make it easier on the mobo than the 72.

if you want to compare them to somthing think of the e8xxx to the e7xxx like the e6xxx to the e4xxx.

The E7200 has a higher multipiler than the E8400 why have Intel release a cheap chip like the E7200 because it can surpass the big boy such as the E8400 and E8500.
E7200 for Sure It's Cheaper and can Overclock at same clock speed as the E8400.

E7200 or even E7300 which has a 10 multi

I have got my E7200 to 3.47ghz. My Motherboard bottoms out at 1480 QDR. but the reason i can't OC my E7200 more is because of my Motherboard.

E7200 is a very cheap CPU which is going to get a discounted price when Intel release the E7300 rumours has it that E7200 will only be £70 which is even more Crazy

P.S most people on a good mother board are getting 3.8 easierly
