Lost Signal

Thread Starter
Not sure what forum this belongs too but here it goes.
My computer loses signal with the screen once in awhile and the only way to be able to play/start screen again is to restart the pc using the button on the case. I was thinking the gfx might have heat issues but it idles at 45 and full load at 62 which seems rather fine to me. The power suply not delivering enough juice also crossed my mind but it's a 500W with 33A on the 12v Rails which should be enough for my little 8600GTS. I've even tried with another screen and the same thing happens, either the screen losses signal and goes black or the hole system just shuts off, doesn't matter wheter I game or just browse the internet.
Would really like some help with this issue as it's being very disruptive during gaming. :<
Any help would be appreciated.

First thing I would do is start off with the easiest thing to replace. Replace the Video Cable that connects the PC to the monitor. You can get the issue you are having with a faulty Cable. If that does not work, I would say try a different Power Supply. Do not think anything is wrong with yours though.

I've tried swapping my 19" TFT for an old CRT screen to see if it was my monitor but the problem continues to exist.

Are you making sure everything is connected securely? I guess I would start leaning towards either a Graphics card driver issue, or power supply issue. Have you tried, downloading the newest drivers for your graphics card?

I'm using 175.16 which is the recent one available from nVidia.com. And when I installed it I made sure to delete the previous one first.

How are your cpu temps? Have you blown out your case lately? Have you tried swapping to a different PSU?
