Which quad should i get?

Thread Starter
which sould i get
ok - i want to oc this to 3.2 ghz
q9450- big cache 45nm - im favoring this one 2.6Ghz 1333 fsb
q9300- SMALL cache 45nm- 2.5ghz 1333 fsb
q6600 medium cache 65 nm 2.4 ghz 1066 fsb

btw ive heard that the q9450 is just an underclocked qx7700 with a locked multiplier - as soon as you bump up the speed it performs just as well

i only want 3.2 ghz so which would q9450 give me lowest temps and fastest results (bigger cache)?

the Q6600 happy medium the 9x multi helps with ocing more than the 8x on the Q9450and 8MB L2 cache is more than the Q9300
post #4 of 14
Q6600 for 200$
Q6700 for 260$
Q9450 for 350$

All of them are good, and they get better with each step up.

The Q6700 is generally higher binned than the Q6600.

The Q9450 is a bit faster than the previous 2 due to bigger cache/slightly improved architecture, and it runs cooler. An X48 mobo goes a long way for this chip to see it's full potential.

Really, your choice depends on how much you want to spend, but you'll be happy with any of them (unless you get one of those nasty 1.325 VID Q6600s like my friend did, but that's probably only 2-5% of Q6600s)

Q6700 is $240 for today only @ tiger direct:
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...MP=OTC-HARDOCP
that would be my choice since the latest q6600s aren't great OCers.
if your only looking for 3.2 than id say save ur money and get a Q6600

Otherwise, for best OC the Q6700..

The Q6600 is a awesome overclocker. Youll get it to 3.2 no problem. The extra cache in the 9450 is nice but not really worth the price.
