This is the first scratch-built I've seen so far, and it looks frigging great. I never thought home-worked metal could look so great really.

Thanks for all the support everyone! It really does help, seriously.

I started in on the second half of the case frame today; the section that will house the drives and the PSU. Since I forwent the glue technique used in the first section, I figured I'd walk you through the construction of the first joint.

First, I take two of the legs and the 3" angle bit, square them up, and tape/clamp them down. Then, I drill through the legs and the angle with a 7/64" bit:

Next, I tap out the four holes in the 3" angle with a 6/32 tap:

Then, I bore out the 7/64" holes in the legs with a 9/64" bit to allow the screws to pass through; and then cut the countersinks with this bit here:

After assembling the first two legs and the 3" angle joiner piece with screws; I carefully square up the third leg with the first two, and drill the 7/64" holes for it:

After boring out and countersinking the third leg, I can attach it for a finished joint:

This way takes a bit longer in actual labor, but overall is much quicker than waiting for glue to dry. It also has the benefit of being easy to disassemble. This is good, because as you can see, I still need to work on the contouring of the 3" angle pieces. I'm holding off on that for now until I'm sure what all I'm going to need to attach to what where. (That was a lesson learned on the first section; I ended up redoing several of those pieces to get the fan mounts to work properly)

Repeat the above process seven more times (minus the squaring effort); and you have this:

to be continued . . .

Warf! Wow man. *dares to open a can of worms* This is by far some of the best case craftsmanship I have seen. This is Syrillian level stuff man, lol. I am so ashamed of my own mod now,LOL.

Warf, you are going to be a legend!
