q6700 owners above 3.5 - Page 2

Got my Q6700 running at 3.6 right now at 1.39v.
It's not 100% stable but it runs fine for me so far.
Had it boot at 3.85 but not willing to push it far enough for 3.9 to 4.

Multi: 10
QDR: 1440
Vcore: 1.39
NB and HT: 1.54 I believe
SB: 1.64 I believe but not 100% sure.

Motherboard Temps are 35 - 38.
Core temps idle 44 - 40
Load after 1 min in prime: 55 - 50 Degrees.
Vcore @ load: 1.36 (Quite irritating but pencil mod soon)

So do you think 1.48V idle are a little high for me at 3.6ghz?

Well i'm sure it also depends on your motherboard?
at 1.48v in the BIOS I can get 3.7.
I'm not saying i'm stable at 3.6 @ 1.39V but it's pretty close.

My motherboard has a decent vdrop from the BIOS to the voltage showin cpu-z so it depends what voltage your referring to.

BIOS for me: 1.45 is 1.39 on CPU-Z.

Well just to get it to boot at 3.3ghz I have my vcore at 1.44 in Windows. My SPP and FSB are at 1.5V.

How can I even get it to boot at 3.6ghz? What is your FSB speed and CPU multiplier?

to boot at 3.3 ur vcore is 1.44 in windows?:S
That's pretty high.
I don't think the 680i board overclocks quads well..maybe make a post about that - I think it's just what I've heard.

Yeah, that's what I've heard as well. I got it to boot at 1.5v BIOS (the recommended max) but it failed Orthos almost immediately. I heard that the A1 revision is supposed to be better with quads, mine is the A2 (heard they are the same?).

Everyone should be posting their vid here too. It seems that there is a LOT of variation there and it's a good indicator of what you'll get out of your specific chip.

VID: 1.2875.. and it takes me 1.46v to boot to windows with 3.8 ghz, 1.6v to get to 4.1ghz.

Here are some troubles for why some people can hardly get their quad to over 3.6 ghz,

even with a 780i motherboard, one reason might be the bad Vdroop.
Another reason is the 680i motherboards, they are not quad friendly. they DONT like quads. a BIOs update could help, but there is still flaws to it.

Even intel chipset have high vdroop, that could be a reason why people are not capable of 3.6 ghz or higher.

I for one cant get 3.6 ghz without having 1.5 FSB (with vdroop of .06v) [1.44v in desktop] after pencil mod, my vdroop is only 0.01v, and my processor been running 3.8 ghz under 1.46 volt, ever since.
