q6700 owners above 3.5 - Page 4

I did have mine at 3.33 with only changing the FSB. I added another 4gb of ram (8 total) and now I am back to 2.66. Bios still has the FSB at 333, not sure why I am back at 2.66, I am a newbee to OC'ing.

..and leaving everything on auto That means, MB adds volts automaticly

The Q6700 can take allot of voltage, and need alot of voltage to be stable I ran mine at 3.965Ghz @ 1.7v for a year Prime stable 10hrs idle 36C load 60C with liquid cooling. The best I could do prime stable was 4.050Ghz @ 1.85v but it ran too hot to leave it there. I just replaced it about a month ago with a Q9650. I am going to put it in a folding machine and let it end it's life there.

VID 1.250

Mine VID is 1,200.

3,5Ghz 1,296v (after vdroop) can run Orthoses for 20 minutes, after that an error. I guess, cooling is just giving up (VAPO). 1,31 run for an hour without any problems.

Since i am a noob, can you give me some suggestions as to where to start? I have the FSB at 333 and that is all I have done. I don't know what voltages I should start with. Thanks.

You have Asus P5Q-E? Should look for some settings for quads for that MB and just try to set the minimum stable voltages.
I'm useing Biostar TPower and for quads it is peace of sh..t - last time I tried to test that CPU, the MB exploded.

LOL, thanks for the information. I am just looking for a starting point, someone who has the same MB I suppose. Itried making a thread for the MB so people could post successful OC's, but no one responded. Rep+

Just look for P5Q-E (deluxe etc) - basically they are all somehow similar. Also, settings for 45nm Quad CPU's can be used, just a bit more voltage needed for 65nm.
