Yes, the ISO "contains" memtest, just like a zip file "containes" the programs inside it.
Just as you can't "run" a zip file, you can't "run" an ISO. An ISO contains more information than a zip file though, so you can'ty just "extract" what you need. In addition to data files it also contains all the file system data, including boot code, structures, and attributes. Just copying the ISO file doesn't work. You need an ISO burning program. It not only puts all the files from the ISO (ie extracts them) onto the optical disk you're making, but also puts everything in the location where it has to be. Nero, for one, does it.
NO, memtest is much better. Well, harder to pass anyway.
