PC: Gears of War or COD4??

Thread Starter
The only game I've been playing is Company of Heroes, which is the best game I've ever played since Oblivioin. I still play and will be playing it, but I thought I needed another game to switch things up.

Since I would never pay a monthly fee, Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures is out of the question, even though it looks interesting.

I've come down to two options:

Gears of War or Call of Duty 4?

Gears of War is an awesome game as we all know, but I've never played it on a PC (multiplayer!)...COD4 is also a good game, but I've only played multiplayer on Xbox and PS3.

Also, any other suggetions for a newer, good and fun game?

Well either of those would be great, I would have to say CoD4.

Another on that is my fav since you obviously like rts's is Word In Conflict.

The Multi on it is freakin sweet man, and no monthly fee.

Yeah man...its a hard choice because its impossible to match the satisfaction of blowing someones head to bits, or splitting them in half in Gears of War.

On the other hand CoD4 gives you a rewarding multiplayer experience by rank, weapons and more. Not to mention the graphics are good as well.

I'm just trying to see what the majority opinion is...

Gears of War PC single player is easily in my top 5 of all pc games, absolutely fantastic. The GOW PC multiplayer is severely lacking however. Very few people play it. Cod4 single player was alright imo, but nothing great. And I HATE COD4 multiplayer for the spray and pray camp all day approach that most people take in the game. But that's coming from a hardcore Counter Strike player, so it all depends on what you want from a multiplayer game.

Oh and GoW looks absolutely fantastic. I could run it fully maxed, dx10 and full AA on my other rig (dead gpu atm) the system was a Q6600 @3.7ghz, 4gb ram, single 8800 GT. I rarely dropped below 40 fps. Very well coded.

Okay my opinion is GOW sux on pc it was meant for 360 and it should have stayed there But thats only my opinion and COD4 is Awesome I luv it single mode is awesome but playing online even better so ja u must try and either play it at a friends house first to see for ur self

COD4 hands down, even though GoW has a good story line in single player, the multiplayer isn't as good, also you have to pay monthly for xbox live still to play it on pc

I'm going to buy Gears of War for the SP side of things.

However, Call of Duty 4 has been my game of preference since it came out, depending on which servers you go for, yes there are the spray and pray merchants, but I've found some pretty good servers where teamwork and stealth are used, mianly in S&D games, if you like TDM or Free for all then yes you are going to get run and gun specialists, and noob nading.

For me CoD4 is the best MP game out there at the moment, prolly until CoD5 comes out next year.

CoD4...No prestige, so you may level up slower, but it's worth it for the online experience
