Q6600 - G0 - nForce 680i Sli - Overclocking

Hello,
Ok first i think its best to tell you what settings i have in my bios.
Refer to specs for more info.

Motherboard: nForce 680i Sli - P32 Version
CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 - G0 Stepping

FSB & Memory Settings
FSB QDR: 1340MHZ
Linked Mode
Sync Mode
Memory: 670MHZ (Set to run at 1:1 Ratio with sync mode)

CPU Configuration
Thermal Control: Disabled
Speedstep: Disabled
CE1 Enhanced Halt State: Disabled

Voltages
CPU: 1.31250
All the rest are auto.

Memory Timings
All on auto.

Now this is where i need help. i can't get this thing stable, it crashes through any stress test when i stress the whole cpu and memory it crashed with BSOD or just freezes, is this my memory holding me back? i tried setting the timings to what it says in manual 5-5-5-18 with 1.9v as it says its tested at 800mhz with them but i used them on 670mhz, it was stable for a while then crashed.

I need help really bad, how do i get this thing overclocked, all i want is my cpu running at 3.0GHZ (3.02GHZ is just above)

I need advice or someone to help me to get this at 3GHZ and Stable! I don't want my memory overclocked or anything! Just CPU, the 1:1 ratio would be nice as i heard it takes stress of the northbridge, excess stress that is not needed!

Please help! I been trying to figure this out for 3 days, other forums are not helpful and i need help asap.

Thanks,
Intel!

What is your VID, you can find it in coretemp. If you have a 1.35v VID, then you probably need to bump up the vcore somemore.

The VID is 1.3000 so that's fine, iv'e already checked that and if it was below the VID the OS Wouldn't even boot up if im correct but the OS does boot up, its nothing to do with the CPU im pretty sure, temps are fine on the cpu side and if i stress 'JUST' the cpu its fine but if i do CPU and Memory together = no way, bsod or just a freeze or crash.

My memory is Corsair XMS2 DDR2 6400- 2GB Kit - 5-5-5-18 Timings
www.corsair.com its on the products list.
I read manual and set there voltages and timings hard in the bios and still no luck.

Do you reckon running my memory unlinked at 800MHZ will make the memory stable? this isn't 1:1 but if it works its better, right?

Also if anyones got any perfect guides for the q6600 overclocking on the nforce 680i then throw them at me.

Also how about lowering the Multiplier to 8 and running 1600 FSB unlinked with 800mhz memory?

Just like to say 1333MHZ FSB - Memory 800MHZ - Seems stable i think iv'e hit a FSB Wall at 1333MHZ Max with 9x Multiplyer my max oc is 3.00GHZ, That's crap!

No way.. i must be doing something wrong, mcp voltage, i leave all voltages auto though!

I'm having the same problem with this board and my Q6700. I had it stable at 3.3ghz and went up to 3.6ghz but I had to max out all of my voltages. Just to get this thing to boot I had to set Vcore to 1.5v, fsb to1.5v and SPP to 1.5v. The vcore is idling at 1.472v in Windows, seems way high and is still unstable.

Here is a good guide, it has everything in it.http://www.nvidia.com/docs/CP/45121/...erclocking.pdf

Edit: You should unlink the memory and CPU, o/c the CPU, get it stable, then go back and o/c the RAM.

^ Hmmm, I just set voltages to randomly high like 1.4, i left the MCP on 1.5 which is lowest and i put memory as says in manual to 1.9 and its stable.

Man so just from 1333mhz -> 1340mhz needs a big voltage increase! Yeah, good overclocking motherboard

^ Oh btw, set all voltages to Auto, looks like my system is best on auto, Idle: 40 - 45c
Load: 45 - 50c

Temperates seem to maintain well, im using an Xigmatek Cooler and memory on 1:1 ratio, it seems stable now so yeah ill see how it goes!

LOL, my thoughts exactly. But hey, it's cheap and you get what you pay for.

I'm determined to get it up to 3.6ghz stable. I backed down to 3.38ghz because I wasn't feeling the crashes/BSOD. Off to play Crysis now!
