Thanks. I'm getting the original since it has a fan speed controller...the vario doesn't...and yes I;m gonna wing it...same with the PC Build...my first one but that I got down pat..I've done upgrades and so on and the only way to install my 8800GTS when I first got it was winging it, same with my PSU..so im kinda used to it and its how I learn stuff ...Gonna be looking into the noise..I am pro silence....any ideas..are my fans ok?

And once again does anyone have pics of an Antec P182 with a ThermoChill PA120.3 installed in the top of the case?

From Petra's D5-Vario "Blurb" (or pretty much anywhere that carries the D5-Vario)
Quote:
• Pump speed can be adjusted to yield top performance or virtually silent operations
I think You're getting Three different pumps mixed up.
The Swifty MCP655 (What You are calling the "Original") and The Laing D5 Vario are both the same- They are both Variable- hence the D-5's vario Nomenclature!
-BTW the MCP655 is a rebranded D5-Vario! So it isn't the Original in that sense-

I think that this may be where the confusion came in: Someone posted "get the original MCP655"
It is the Original Swiftech 655 model (rebranded Laing), they have since started "Making" a non adjustable one (it costs less, but performs less also)
The Swifty MCP655-B is the one that is not adjustable and runs at about 2/3 speed.
Maybe MCP655-B for Basic model!

Just thought I'd clear that up for ya before you "just Winged it" and got stuck with the non adjustable one!
The fixed 2/3 speed was honestly the only thing that stopped me from buying the Swifttech Ultra 220 Kit;
Which, apart from that pump, is an excelent kit and a steal at the price too.
Cheers Mate
Good Luck

The B version apparently is the 2nd version of the fixed speed pump but apparently its still advertised with the same specs as the vario. They implemented a tach sensor ( rpm sensor wire) to the fixed speed. As far as if it's still vario speed based on the tach sensor only somebody that has the pump can say. Your fans should be fine. make sure to put it in the pull position. If you got some crappy spare cheap fans lying around then crack the center out and turn it into a shroud so u get rid of the dead-spot.

Secondly, if u are going to wing it then you should leave this forum and go wing it. right now you are reassuring urself to "see" if everything would go right which is not "winging it". In that instance, you should go research some of this very basic information which is stickied on this forum. I am very willing to help anybody with questions but i would also appreciate it if people would at least try and search the forum for whatever they have a question too. And im sure im not the only one with this thought.
