Ok, im trying to OC my x1650 pro agp but i got some problems. With ATI tool if i get too high with the memory, it freezes and im forced to restart. So now im using ATI Tray Tool, but i dont want it to get screwed up again. With ATI Tool i set the core to 675 from 600.

http://i276.photobucket.com/albums/k...alsi/gpuoc.jpg

Thats the exact screen im using to OC. I havent oced the memory thats the default ( i think unless i screwed it up) .
Can u guys tell me what to do to OC the memory?
Thanks ,

shibbz. btw sig is in rig.

ive been working on overclocking my system lately and I have the same card as you. The highest stable OC i got with my x1650 is 675 on core (600 stock) and 423 on mem (400 stock). Mind you, my card is the HIS version not the Sapphire and I have the IceQ fan on mine and another 80mm fan blowing on it as well. My system stays very cool at like 38 C on full load.

My limiting factor on how much I can overclock it is my mobo which is an old 754 MSI FSR. The pci/agp slots are not locked, so any more overclocking for me may result in a mobo crash. You can check my rig for all the numbers I have.

ohh ya, and I use ati tool. a few months ago i tried OC'ing with ati tray tools and I got registry errors all over the place and had to reformat the HD and flash my bios.

i got the sapphire version of the x1650pro AGP, this version starts off at 546Mhz, and yea the max core is 675Mhz, the memory is locked on mine, i can't change it either way without it crashing. I use ATI tool, have for years, its never let me down. I don't really wanna change the memory anyway, its at 1594Mhz, there is an option to disable the crashing(RAMDAC) when the memory is adjusted with RivaTuner, but i cannot figure out how to get it working, its a setting exclusively for the ATI x1000 series. I butchered up a few CPU heatsinks and thermal pasted em on the ram chips, and attempted to adjust the memory again with no success over\\underclocking, also, heatsinking the co-processor on the opposite side of the board from the main gpu should be mandatory (has white tape with a square cut in it, makes the surface flat which is perfect for placing a heatsink on), whilst running doom 3 OC'ed, i put god mode on and let a bunch of creatures attack me and i stood there. I felt around the card for hotspots, that co-processor was unnervingly hot, also the 4 power fets(2 on each side of the board, they are heatsinked to the card itself(stock)) were very hot. So now my card has 13 heatsinks and 2 fans. the 2nd fan is a chassis fan that cools the gpu co-processor sink and the mobo's northbridge sink, seeing as they are right next to eachother. Since I have performed these modifications, I have gained as much performance with cooling as i have overclocking. Now i can play unreal tournament 3 on max and the gameplay is smooth as Jessica Alba's nice round buttocks. paid 100bux even for this card, and it was worth it, oh and BTW THIS CARD RUNS FINE ON MAX250 WATT PSU'S cuz im still using my stock 218 watt rms 14A PSU and the specs call for 350watt 18A min, and with an insanely beefed up memory clock. this card is worth every penny.

Sapphire Rules!!

X1650PRO AGP 675Mhz\\1.6Ghz 512mb on 218watt psu

What I do when using tray tools is open up the 3D render and hit find max for mem. Adding voltage will give you more, I discovered this the other day, and I got a big increase with the smallest increase on mem Just be sure to check your temps! I find that if you let the core max out, then do the mem you get a good OC.

-=edit=- Jeez old thread!
