I coultn agree more.

I've done the SLI mod on my current DFI board I have right now, but was never able to use it. I guess, to keep my options open that would be nice, but do you have any personal experiences with overclocking on a nvidia chipset? I am currently using the nForce4 one right now on my 3000+, and the learning curve was hard (from the older boards) to the nForce4 board, not only that, I've read a lot of reviews saying that the nvidia boards have a harder time overclocking? (any confirmation on that?)

Well I have had a P35 (Intel) before and am running a 790i (nVidia) right now. And to be honest, you need to do some read-ups, but they are just as easy to OC (unless they made X38/X48 easier to work with, I don't have any experience with those). I was able to OC my QX6850 on both of them to 3.6Ghz without any problems, besides you have an unlocked multi on that thing, it doesn't take much more then just giving it a few more volts if you upping the multi to overclock

Im gonna have to agree with most of the people on here. sell the chip for a small fortune, and build yourself a fine rig with the dinero.

if you feel bad about doing that, tell your buddy that hes too nice and should buy more expensive computer hardware, or you can just give him his chip back.

I'm in a situation where the chip is mine to keep. I will take a look at the nvidia chipset boards as I have neglected them during my research. Everyone here seems to be pushing away from the micro ATX scenario so I will do some more research on other boards and keep this updated till the very end.

Actually, I forgot to refresh the thread when I posted earlier. If you want to keep the processor, then go ahead. The 8800GT and 4GB of G.Skill are all very good parts. The only thing I would change is the motherboard. I say get a solid P35/X38/X48 board and a standard size case rather than a mATX case.
