Question about plans

Thread Starter
Ok my dad is an accountant and has two people who work for him. The pc he uses contains all of the spreadsheets the workers use and he wants me to setup a networking so that they can access the files from his pc. This is my plan and want to know if it will work.
Btw they work in seperate rooms but next door to each other.

His main pc in room 1 - connected to router without internet
workers pc in room 2 - connected wirelessly
workers pc in room 2 - connected wirelessly

OR i can use an ethernet cable but my main question is will the networking still work without internet on the router?

Mani, yes. You can network without having internet. Here's my personal advice to you. If at all possible the best way to handle this sharing will be to make a seperate partition on your dads hard-drive, or use an external harddrive. This prevents you having to give any share rights to C:, which is always good. Go through all 3 PC's and set them up on a workgroup (you can use the wizard built into windows), just make sure they're all on the same workgroup. Now setup the shared drive\\folder\\directory on dads machine. Once you have the share setup go to the 2 "worker" PC's, bring up My Computer, go to Tools, and Map Network Drive. You can assing the shared drive to any letter that you would like, but the address for the shared will be \\\\"computer name"\\"name of shared drive". You can think put a shortcut on the desktop for both "workers" to allow fast, simple access to the shared.

P.S. to verify the name of your dads PC, right click my computer, properties, Computer Name.
