PLEASE HELP! GA-Ep35-DS3P Issues!

I have a couple issues and I believe they are centered around the graphics card. When I turn my machine on I get a blank screen and a long beep followed by either 2 or 3 short beeps. Its tough to tell because it happens so fast. After that the computer boots as normal but the screen is blank. After hitting the reset button a couple times it will post but I will have lost all overclocking settings. It will revert back to default speed. And when it does get into windows the graphics card is reported as running at x1 rather than x16 and graphics performance it aweful.

I have tried swapping out the video card for an older ATi x550 256MB PCI-e card and the system boots as normal, retains my overclocking settings and shows the video card ruinning at x16.

Please note that this does not happen all the time. Most of the time it does but occasionally the system will boot with my 2900XT video card and with all the overclocking settings active. This is very rare though.

Fixes I have tried so far:

- The motherboard came with bios F1 and I flashed it to F3. That did not solve the problem.

- I cleared the CMOS one time by removing the battery and another by shorting out the CMOS jumper as instructed in the manual.

- I raise the North Bridge voltage slightly and on another occasion the PCI-e voltage.

- I verified that my power supply has enough power to support my setup.

* Note: The 2900XT video was just recently pulled from my older system and the card works with that computer which leads me to believe it has something to do with the motherboard.

I would prefer not to RMA the board because I would not meet the return timeframe requirements.

Please give me any assistance you can. Thank you.

i would guess your psu has seen its ass with the power the 2900 wants, its doing this because the psu is cold and cant handle the draw untill its warmed up a bit.

can you try another higher rated psu?

Because its cold? How do I warm it up? This thing has been running non stop for 24 hours, well except for about 100 restarts.

I thought it might be a weak psu but the only thing different about my machine now is that I am running an new mobo and CPU. And the X2 5000 I was running before drew more power than the C2D Wolfdale.

According to the manual you only need to use that if you are running crossfire. Regardless I did try it and it didn't help.
