Well I disagree..

I did the Q6600 B3 -> G0 swap and there was a big difference in terms of voltage requirement and ultimately thermal output.

Just recently I went from E8500 C0 -> E8600 E0.

Now I know these are different cores to some extent, but the change in this case was even more dramatic.

Right now I'm running 4.4ghz @1.25v 24/7 on water

Idle/load is 34/48C ( newly corrected values, TjMax = 100C, prime 95). This chip is so cool (sic), that my QX9650 has been shelved for awhile, maybe for good.

My E8500 C0 needed 1.3v for 4.0ghz and temps were significantly higher.

If I were in the market for a C2D right now, I'd definately pick up an 8400, 8500, or 8600 with E0.

If I were in the market for a quad, I'd jump all over the Q9650 E0..

My $0.02...

Myself and a few others who have e0 stepping e8400s have had phenomenal overclocking results. So i would be willing to bet that yes, it will, unless we all got extremely lucky

I wonder....

Maybe i could get an even higher overclock using these newer chips

Im currently at 4.4ghz with 1.344 vcore, which is great and all.....

but it runs terribly hot, even under watercooling

Ok why did you bring back a three month old thread??

Anyway, yes, stepping changes are almost always better OC'ers!
