My Imagination? Cooler Master 690 fans loud?

Thread Starter
This is my first build using COOLER MASTER RC-690 case.

Overall I'm very pleased with the build. But the fans seem a little loud... especially the side fan has an annoying mid-tone buzz.

Will switching to YATE LOON's lower the noise noticeably or just a little?

Many thanks!

John

Fan controllers
There are some fans out there with decent CFM outputs and low noise level.
Yate loon's are decent, if your willing to splash out a bit, Noctua fans are good

Make sure the stickers or the fans aren't rubbing on the side of the case. I had a problem with mine. Also they are slightly louder but not alot louder. I have a fan controller and the side fans are at 25% while everything else is higher and just as quiet.

Was thinking of going that route also. I just don't like the look of the ones I've seen so far. Looking for more "reserved" look...nothing too flashy.

> Noctua fans are good

Pricey...worth the extra quid?

> Make sure the stickers or the fans aren't rubbing on the side of the case.

Just checked...all looks good!

Thanks,

This one has a nice "reserved" look for 6 fans. Make sure you look close, it looks silver in the first picture but look at the other, its black.

Also there is a quote button so you dont have to type it again. Save your finger strength!

Doing a couple mods will help also. Such as cutting out all the fan grills that come on it and replacing with aftermarket. The honeycomb style fan grill creates a bit more noise.

Fan controller as always helps.

Yea...I got lazy and didn't cut the grills. Once I have some free time that will be my next project.

The stock fan sound isn't too bad...but i would like it quieter.

I don't know if you're in on the PURE EVIL thing?

@ JohnnyV:

Try holding the fan tight while it is running. If the noise is reduced, it means the noise is coming from vibration, which would be a problem with any fan. You could use rubber screw-thingies ( I think you understand?) or a full-blown 120mm rubber gasket.
