Help Tuniq Tower Backplate wont come off!

Thread Starter
Hi,

I need to send back my faulty P5K-E and have taken it out of my pc and disconnected everything, but i cant remove the Tuniq Tower X-shaped plate thats stuck on the back with a sticky foam pad. Its all un-screwed but wont budge. Anyone have any idea how i could get it off? Not sure how much force i can pull it with without damaging the motherboard further?? Ive pretty much pulled it until my fingers hurt with no luck, and dont want to lever it off as it prob damage the board.

Any ideas appriciated.

Well, there are a couple of ways but I found using a slim knife and slicing through the foam pad to be the easiest for me.

Some say heat it up with a hairdryer and pull/pry slightly, didn't work for me but might not have heated it up enough.

I just kept turning mine untill it got loose. Now I dont use a stupid sticky pad at the back. I used electrical tape and made a pad. And it works very good.

Yea I was lucky, had some 3M double sided tape so I used it and didn't take the backing off for the other side. Learned the hard way that those backs don't like to come off

Take some fishing line behind it if you can. That's what I do when I'm pulling badges and stuff off my car.

I heated it up with a hair dryer then slowly twisted it off. Worked like a charm

thanks for replies everyone! Tried the hairdryer and screwdriver wrapped in tape and it came off with a little bit of patience. Amazing how such a small pad is so strong :| Not entirly sure why it needs to be that strong if it just needs to hold it in place but nvm. Wont be using one again!

And yeah... seems like you already got your answers.... I personally bought my Tuniq used with the pad already removed... I just glued some foam to the where the pad should have been... I see no reason for the backplate to be stuck on the motherboard anyways - unless you're really tooooo lazy to line it up every reinstall
