8*C ambient rise = 12*C idle temp rise?!

Today I am having a warmer day than I have been, and suddenly my idle temp jumps up to 50*C from 38! Could something else be going on? Or does ambient temperature really have that much effect?
that seems about right. if your CPU temp matched your ambient temp then they would both change at the same amount, but I don't think thats going to happen.

If thats the case then this really sucks because I had a pretty comfortable overclock going and I was even hoping for a bit more but now its going to get screwed up by nice weather

I live in Arizona

I know how you feel.

Try running your CPU at 4.28 Ghz with a 1900 Front side bus... then tell me if you can keep ANYTHING cool

Yesterday my MCP was overheating and locking my computer... at one point it froze at 80*C... CPU went from a nice 45*C Load to freakin 60*C load

Either kiss your electric bill size goodbye and crank up the AC or deal with heat

Wait you're in Arizona and getting better temps than me @ +4ghz? Maybe I need to take a look at my heatsink and reseat it. Possibly lap the CPU as well.

Since it's such nice weather, why don't you go outside and play, or do yard work or take a walk instead of stressing that you can't overclock your PC.

Ha, go outside and play... I haven't "played" outside since I was nine or ten years old... And I was planning on doing some yardwork today, and still plan on it, but I noticed my 50 degree idle temp and got a bit worried.

Now here's what I really don't get... My video card is staying at the same temp as it used to...
Is it possible that one of the push pins came loose on my xigmatek?

possibly, i'd reseat anyway just to be sure, maybe re-apply TIM as well, making sure that you don't have too much on

I will be reseating it when my new fan comes in this week, I don't have enough TIM left for two reseats and I'm pretty sure I won't be able to install my new NB fan without removing the heatsink. I'm really leaning towards this push pin idea because I heard an unusual click earlier today, and before that I was running at my usual 40*C. Not to mention I just don't trust them to begin with.

Are there any bolt kits that can be used with the HDT-S1283?
