[NH] Radeon HD 4807X2 in mid-Q2, costs less than GTX280 - Page 2

if this really does end up costing less than the GTX280, i'm sold.

now if nvidia would just push it down a bit to say $500 - they'd have my business right away

GPUs have been more than dual core for a long time now. You can't really have a "dual core" GPU in the same way that you think about CPUs being dual core.

Because the article mentioned that the card was very driver dependent, it would be a resonable guess that they use a built-in CrossFire solution similar to the HD3870X2 as opposed to the rumored shared memory / transparent CrossFire option. However, looking at the pictures that were posted of the 4870X2 cooler, there were only contacts for two chips indicating the possible absence of a PCIe bridge which would be evidence that they somehow made the X2 without internal CrossFire. Really these aren't consistent with each other, and I don't know which to believe. Should be an interesting release as more details are revealed...

By then you'll probably be able to get a GTX280 for $500.

Whatever the case; I'll get the best performing one under $600 by the end of this year.

Q2? As in next month? I thought this card wasn't going to hit until Q3 or possibly even Q4?

No... why would you think it's out?

The thread was started 8 hours ago and says it won't be out until mid Q2.
