I am looking at Zune type things right now, and I want one that can handle word and adobe acrobat formats, so I can store a couple books on it. Can you guys help me find one?

Sony's Reader Digital Book would display all except for movies.

So it supports audio and pictures, too? I wouldn't mind very much about the video, as I have a portable DVD player, and the Zune screen is a little too small for a good movie veiwing. Thanks man. Does anyone else have a suggestion?

IMO, sony reader would be a better choice because it has 6" screen and the battery life lasts up to 7,500 continuous page turns.

Many MP4/MP3 players these days support .TXT and image files, so if you are able to get them or convert them to that format you'll be fine for reading books but don't know of any that support book marking or any other advanced features other than displaying text. So look for something that has the best Battery and screen size you can afford. And movies on something that small is just a novelty it ain't really practical IMO. And videos will drain battery life quiet substantial, so if you plan on watching something 30minutes to 1 hour without having a paper weight after it you should be fine. But the Sony E-book reader device suggested by SZayat seems quite impressive 7,5000 PAGE TURNS WOAHAH...

Thanks. I spent a lot of today thinking about having video, and I have come to agree that it is impractical. I have a portable DVD player with a bigger screen than any of those gadgets, so I'll stick with that. I have, however been looking for a device to read books on, and would like for it to be the only thing in my pocket. I don't know, though, because anything bigger than a credit card is uncomfortable in my pocket.

So here's what I want: An MP3 player with a couple gigs for music, one that I can work out with in my pocket; A gadget to read some books that supports many formats that holds several hundred MBs; And a picture viewing thing (I will settle with my phone as it doubles as a camera).

I guess my point is I hate having so many gadgets. To me, it's just more stuff that someone could steal. At the same time, having a phone with so many functions sucks because it ends up being so bulky that it's uncomfortable in my pocket. I guess I shall remain in my own personal hell. Thanks anyway, guys.

Well if you don't care about all the advanced features and a screen a IpodShuffle seems like a good option since you want it to work out with and its quite small and easy to protect. 2GB model goes for $69. http://www.apple.com/ipodshuffle/
