Lapped zalman 9500 and no change

Thread Starter
I lapped my zalman 9500 last night and I got the balls to lap my phenom 9850. My temps are the same as before. I am 100% stable at 3.0 but my temps hit the 61c max that newegg says is the max under specs. Is it just time to change coolers will a new bigger cool change anything at all really. Thanks in advance for any help.

I know if you were to get a 9700 it would drop 3 to 5 degrees. If you were to get a TRUE, probably alittle more than that.

Yup... A 9500 is kinda pushing it on a 125w+ processor. Maybe try lapping the IHS to match the Zalman, and use as little TIM as possible. Just a small 1/2 pea size dot in the middle is enough for AMD's.

My friend has a Scythe Mugen(w/ a 90CFM fan) on his 9850BE, and is getting good temps. Dont recall the exact numbers though.

Same here, My 9500 is sitting here next to me waiting for me to get 35 rep so I can sell it. I can see myself clearly in the base, and I've tested it its completely flat. No need to lap it haha.

Hack your Zalman 9500.

Put a 120mm fan on it.
